June Favourites!

I swear this post comes round way too quickly!

Ok here are the products that I've been reaching for the most this past month.

  • First up is the MUA Undressed palette, I absolutely love this eyeshadow palette, it's got a great selection of colours and the quality is fab especially when you consider it cost £4! For my full review click here, if you want to get your hands on the Undressed palette you can buy it from the MUA website here.
  • Next up is my favourite cleanser ever! Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, I have noticed such a difference in my skin since using this and I will continue to use this for quite some time to come. For my full review click here. To buy your own Cleanse & Polish from the Liz Earle website click here.
  • My next favourite is a new product that I bought after seeing a review by Amy from a littleboatsailing, it's the Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination skin. I've been using the original version of this for a while now and I loved it but it was a bit rich for me as I have oily skin, so when I heard they'd got a new formula for oily/combination skin I had to give it a try and I really like it! A full review of this will be coming up soon. You can buy this from Boots and Superdrug.
  • Next is the Clinique High Impact mascara that I got from Debenhams when Clinique were doing their Mascara Swap, to read my post about the Mascara Swap click here. I think it's a great idea and it allowed me to try a mascara that I never would have normally tried. The High Impact mascara is a volumising mascara and I really like it, it doesn't give amazing volume in one coat but you can easily build up a few coats without any clumps. Full review coming soon.
  • My favourite hair product of the month has definitely been the Matrix Biolage Colorcaretherapie Shine Shake which I use as a leave-in conditioner on wet hair and a shine spray on dry hair. I love this product and it leaves my hair feeling really soft and shiny, read my full review and find out where to buy it here.
  • Lastly is my favourite scent this month which is the Caudalie The Des Vignes, I got this in my June Glossy Box and I absolutely love it! This was by far the best item in my Glossy Box hence the reason I cancelled my subscription, to find out what else I got in my box this month click here. The Caudalie perfume can be purchased from their website here.
So that's everything I've been loving this month, let me know if you've been loving any of these items too!

iLoveToCreate Retrofabulous Embellished Straw Tote
Margot Potter
'These ARE your grandmother's crafts...ya gotta problem with that?
I didn't think so."

I'm afraid I have always had a serious soft spot for retro beachy looks.  Straw hats, straw totes, sundresses and seersucker rompers all make my little heart go pitter pat.  When I saw this plain straw tote in the dollar section at Target, I could not resist.  I knew immediately how I would DIY it into a retrofabulous summer bag!  Some felt, rick rack trim, pom-pom fringe and a judicious smattering of sparkly crystal accents take a plain bag from drab to fab and with the help of Aleene's Tacky Glues literally in seconds flat!  Now THAT's retrofabulous!

Materials
Plain straw tote
Craft felt in four colors
Coordinating pom pom fringe
Coordinating rick rack trim
Tulip Glam-it-up Crystals in Metallics
Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue
Aleene's Tacky Glue Dots Singles 3/16"

Tools
Scissors
Ruler
Marker
Hand draw a simple 4"lx1.5"w fish shape, cut out to use as a template.

Place template on felt, trace and cut out four fish.
Cut rick rack and adhere to fish.

Glue fish and pom pom trim to tote with Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue.  Finish one fish with metallic crystal accents using Aleene's Tacky Glue Dots.  Allow it all to dry, toss on your favorite vintage or vintage inspired sundress and sunglasses and ta da...go get 'em, you retrofabulous creature, you!

Beautiful Blogger Award!

Rules

Thank the person that nominated you and link to her blog.
I was nominated by Emma from iamEmmaWilde. Thank you Emma!

Tell us how the idea of making a blog popped up and what makes you continue it?
I started out watching beauty videos on Youtube and then I started reading those peoples blogs which then made me think why not start my own and I'm honestly surprised by how much I really love writing my blog, the blogging community is so supportive and lovely, it makes you feel very welcome and I love sharing my thoughts with like minded people.

Describe a usual day of your life.
To be honest I don't have a typical day because two days are never the same for me, on average though I get up when my son wakes up which can be anywhere between 6am and 8am, sort him out and then get myself ready, if I've got some clients booked in that day (I'm a mobile beauty therapist) I'll drop my son off at my parents while I work and then pick him up and usually go for a walk with my husband, my son and the dog. After my son goes to bed at 7pm I usually spend some time blogging and then cuddle up on the sofa with my hubby and watch a bit of tv and that's about it for my life at the moment, not very exciting but I love it!

The best collaboration with a blogger.
I haven't really collaborated with another blogger on anything yet so I can't really answer that.

Worst collaboration with a blogger.
Same as above.

Describe what having this blog means to you.
Having this blog has given me such a great sense of achievement and I really look forward to sitting down with a cup of tea and reading the lovely comments that people leave on my blog. My blog is very important to me because I've invested a lot of time and effort in to making it what it is now, a lot of people who don't blog don't understand why it's such a big deal to me, so much so that I don't tell most people that I have a blog because they just laugh and think it's stupid (does anyone else experience that?). Blogging has become part of my life now and I see myself carrying on blogging for a long, long time.

Nominate 5 other bloggers
I would like to nominate
Abelia
Amy
Becky
Donna
Lola

I've also been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by Janine at The Amazing World of J and the Laine Blogger Award by Sica at Purely Envy and Linzi at When It Rains It Pours. I've already done the tagged questions on both of these awards so I won't do them again but I want to say a big thanks to Janine, Sica and Linzi for nominating me!

If anyone else nominated me for an award and I've forgotten to mention you please leave me a comment and tell me and I'll add you in on this post.

Fazane - Womenswear With A Fashion Twist!

I wanted to do this post to let you know about an exciting new womenswear company called Fazane.

Designed in the UK by Fazane Malik from Derby with her business partner and brother Joseph Malik.
ann dress £139.00

They cater for women of all ages and provide classic clothing and accessories with a fashion twist that would easily fit into any woman's wardrobe but still stand out in a crowd.

cath blouse £119.00
They try and use luxury fabrics where possible but still keep their prices affordable for all, their items retail for between £49-£249.00 which may sound like a lot but remember you're buying a classic piece that you can keep in your wardrobe forever and will never go out of style.

emma waistcoat £149.00
One thing I love about the company is that they only make 50 pieces of each style, each one signed and numbered, there's nothing worse than finding an item of clothing you love and then seeing it everywhere you go being worn by everyone else. I think it makes each piece from Fazane feel that little bit more special.

katie top £89.00
Designer Fazane Malik has also just won Fashion Angel's 2012 business mentoring competition sponsored by ASOS Marketplace. Entries were judged by Fashion Angel director Alison Lewy and Katie Oldham ASOS' senior marketplace manager, here's what they had to say
"We selected Fazane as we loved the brand aesthetic and felt the business had potential for growth"

nicola jumpsuit £109.00
If you want to take a further look at Fazane's designs then click here to visit their online shop, if you order anything this weekend from www.fazanemalik.co.uk you can get 20% off your order by entering the code PAYDAY20 at the checkout.

Take a look at Fazane's Facebook page and Twitter @fazane_clothing.

I'm absolutely loving the Cath Blouse, what's your favourite piece?

Firecracker Tie Dye Patriotic T-shirt

Just in time for the 4th of July, we've made a super cute Firecracker popsicle-inspired top!  After doing our research, we found out some people call them Bomb Pops or Rocket Pops! Firecracker pops are so iconic and remind us of summer days and trips to the ice cream truck.  I'm always a sucker for nostalgia, so wearing a firecracker pop shirt if right up my alley!  I enlisted the help of our awesome designer Lauri Eaton and she whipped up this shirt in minutes (minus drying time).  This DIY is just about as easy and fun as eating a Firecracker popsicle!

Firecracker Tie Dye Patriotic T-shirt

What you'll need:

Tulip One-Step Tie Dye in red and royal blue
Tulip Dye Zip Ties
Tulip Surface Cover
– 100% white cotton shirt
– Pliers

What you do:

1. Wet or dampen your cotton t-shirt; wring out any exess water.

2. Lay shirt on surface cover. Cinch the shirt into three different sections and use pliers to pull zip ties tightly on bottom and top section as shown above.

3.
Mix Tulip Tie Dyes and shake well.  Squeeze red dye and saturate top part of shirt.  Squeeze dye about a half inch from the cinched zip tie.  The dye does bleed and will seep to this section eventually.  Do the same with the blue dye at bottom.  Also make sure to turn over and make sure you get all areas on the other side of the shirt.

4. Roll and wrap in Tulip Surface Cover and let sit 6-8 hours.

5. Rinse under faucet to remove excess dye. Rinse until water runs clear.

6. Leave rubber bands on shirt and machine wash in large load setting.

7. After washing, remove rubber bands. Machine dry.

So what did you call this treat? Firecracker, Bomb Pop, or Rocket Pop?

Patriotic Projects You Can DIY

I'm going to start with a disclaimer: none of these patriotic garments is a DIY project - they all can be bought at whatever retail store they are sold at. But here's the deal... WHY BUY WHEN YOU CAN DIY? These all look handmade but they cost way more than if you made them yourself. Let's get inspired by what's out there selling in our favorite stores, but let's make our own!

Flag biker jacket from Topshop

You can make it using Tulip Soft Fabric Paint and a star stencil.
Dip-dye top by Lucky Brand
You can make this by dipping your white tee into Tulip One-Step Tie Dye. So simple!

Festival top by Lucky Brand

You can paint this by cutting out stars and ironing them on.
All you need are Tulip Fashion Glitter Sheetsa star template, an iron, and a pair of scissors.

Flag printed shorts from Topshop

You can make this using Tulip Soft Fabric Paint and a star stencil. If you don't have a steady hand to paint stripes, use painters tape.

Heart flag tunic by Free People

You can make this using Tulip Fashion Glitter Shimmer Fabric Paint, a star template, and painters tape to make stripes.

Flag tee shirt by Lucky Brand

You can make this using Tulip Fabric Spray, some tape and some star stickers -- just spray right over the top of the tape and stickers with paint, then remove to reveal your patriotic design.

Patchwork denim shorts from Urban Outfitters

Create these by cutting up old denim to make square patches. Fray the edges and useAleene's Fabric Glue to apply them to your rockin' festival-inspired shorts! How easy is that?!

Okay, so these tie-dye shoes from Urban Outfitters might be less than DIY-able, but they are really cool and would look great with any of the Independence Day DIY's you may be wearing!

Celebrate Good Times, C'mon!

So, I found out some VERY good news this week; I shall officially be graduating my degree with First class BA honours in Journalism and English! To say I'm happy, is an understatement. Uni was something I always knew I wanted to do, so to have passed at such a high level just blows my mind.

Even though I'm no longer a student, I'm still just as poor as one. So despite desperately wanting to buy myself a treat, I can't afford to! :( Luckily, I was sent this lovely skirt from Pop Couture to take the edge off! Its a beautiful chiffon maxi skirt, with a cheeky underskirt in a gorgeous nude colour. I really like it and I like how it goes with my skin colour too. I wore it with a speckled dip hem top from New Look which I also wore in this post with a black maxi skirt.

My heart ring, of course is from Marie Loves Jewellery ;) which you can find here. I thought the look was quite feminine so the pretty heart ring would accompany it quite well!

P.S, sorry if I sounded like I was bragging at all about my degree, just proud of myself for the first time ever!

P.P.S, I would just like to give a thank you to the talented Malia from Deep Fried Freckles, who ever so kindly sent me this wonderful illustration of myself! I will treasure it! It is a rarity, I think, to get to see yourself in the illustrated form! I have popped it in my side bar as my 'about me' picture as I don't want it to go to waste!
